I did the legal and production research on S&H, second through fourth season. But I'm very late come to fanfic. In fact, until a week or so ago, I was completely unaware that it existed. I left The Biz in '88 and have not returned; I've been doing many other things (if interested, please see the Bio/Contact page of my website: www.patriciaackor.com). I discovered late last week that not only is the series still popular, not only are David and Paul still alive, they're still together, whenever the opportunity arrises, such as your Surcons (wish I'd known about them before they happened; oh well.......) I've watched your vids and read much of your archive (your writers are really very good; much better than most of the hacks whose scripts I had to read) and it has made me inordinately happy these last few days to kinow that Starsky & Hutch, and The Boys, still live! I wrote spec scripts and story treatments for the series beginning in '76, long before I was actually involved with the show, but could never find an agent willing to have to do the work that would have been necessary to represent me. So the stories languished; seemingly never to see the light of day. Then I found you guys. I would very much like to try some of them out on your members and am going to begin the process of translating them into Word (or as close as I can come with my extremely limited software knowledge and available programs; do you happen to know if Word Perfect would be acceptable? Or Microsoft Works' word processing program?)(You have to understand, I'm nearly as late come to computers as I was to your site; the reports I produced for all the series I worked on, S&H was only one of them, had to be typed on IBM Selectrics with 7 carbons! Yeah, my technology base is THAT OLD!!!) just as soon as I finish registering. Query: do you ever publish things besides stories, poems, artwork, etc? I'd like to begin my exposure on your site with an "open letter" I wrote to friends and colleagues in the industry in 1977. It has never been published, to my knowledge. It would give your readers some background into the reasons behind what I write in my stories, and why, and also the reason why I believe I speak from a unique perspective. Are any of your other authors veterans of the show? Were any of them there? I was, and I'd like to share some of my experiences with people who, I think, would understand. If that were to be acceptable and gain approval, I have many, many scripts and treatments I could turn into Gen stories. I don't write Slash (which is the main reason why I never got involved with fanzines; they mostly seemed slanted toward that interpretation of the friendship and I wasn't interested.) I know these guys, I worked with these guys, I love these guys. I am just so very glad to know that others "out there" feel the same way I still do.
So, I'll work on my Registration and wait to hear from you regarding uploading my Open Letter, in whatever format you tell me will work.
